On Wednesday 27th November, as part of the learning in our Knowledge and Understanding of the World topic ‘Amazing Africa’, children in Years 1 and 2 took part in a series of creative arts workshops run by Ghanaian and Senegalese practitioners from African Activities, a company that specialises in running workshops for schools promoting the creative and performing arts of West Africa.
In the morning, during the Art workshop, the children learnt how children in West Africa play with toys made from recycled materials. Then they made an elephant mask out of recycled milk cartons and paper mache. Then in the afternoon, the children came together to take part in African dancing, West African drumming, dancing and storytelling. As you can see from the pictures – the children had a blast!
