Our Year 6 Sports Leaders planned and staged a highly successful Key Stage 2 Mini Mile competition on Monday afternoon. The Sports Leaders attended a Surrey Sports Crew training session on the previous Wednesday when they were set the challenge to organise this event for children at their school. They have done very well to get it all set up in such a short space of time.
The course consisted of a number of obstacles that the children had to run through – a slalom, tyres, ladders and hurdles – in a set number of minutes. Lily, one of the Leaders, did a fantastic job explaining the course to the children taking part, with Seb and Bella helping to demonstrate and collating the scores. Isaac and Georgie were the time-keepers and Cameron, George, Marli, Chloe and Callum marshalled the event, making sure everybody was safe and having fun.
The afternoon turned into a very festive occasion with trips to see Santa’s reindeer before the PTFA Christmas Event and children wearing Christmas hats as far as the eye could see.
