Safeguarding and promoting the welfare of children
At Nutfield Church (C of E) Primary School we recognise our moral and statutory responsibility to safeguard and promote the welfare of children and expect all staff and volunteers to share this commitment.
This means that we have a Safeguarding and Child Protection Policy and other procedures in place. Parents and carers are welcome to read the Policy on request, details are also on our website.
Sometimes we may need to share information and work in partnership with other agencies when there are concerns about a child’s welfare. We will ensure that our concerns about our pupils are discussed with his/her parents/carers first unless we have reason to believe that such a move would be contrary to the child’s welfare.
Our Designated Safeguarding Lead (DSL) and Deputy Designated Safeguarding Leads (DDSL) are:
- Miss Imogen Woods (Executive Headteacher) DSL
- Mrs Anna Benjamin (Deputy Headteacher) DDSL
- Mrs Philippa Assender (Bursar) DDSL
- Mrs Lorraine Bainbridge (Learning Mentor & Home School Link Worker) DDSL
- Mrs Mandy Lane (Higher Level Teaching Assistant/Play Leader) DDSL
- Miss Millie Johnston (Class Teacher) DDSL
Nutfield Church Primary School is part of the Operation Encompass scheme which runs jointly between local schools, Surrey Police and Surrey County Council.
Operation Encompass has been designed to provide early reporting on any domestic incidents that occur outside of school and might have an impact on a child in school.
Operation Encompass will ensure that a member of the school staff, named a “Key Adult” or “Deputy Key Adult”, is informed the next morning that there has been a domestic incident or if a child has been reported as missing. Our Key Adult is Miss Imogen Woods, and our Deputy Key Adult is Mrs Anna Benjamin who are fully aware of the sensitive and confidential issues regarding such information.
Through sharing this information with the Key Adult or Deputy Key Adult we can ensure that the child is supported in the most appropriate way during the school day as part of our duty to provide the best support possible for our pupils.
