This week, Year 1 took part in their final lesson on our ‘Animals including Humans’ unit about the Five Senses. We took part in a sorting activity where we had to place different items according to the main sense used – for example, a pineapple would be placed under taste.
Some items were tricky and encouraged some good learning talk, where would we place the sun? We look at it and even though we can’t touch it, we can feel it. Then we made our own sensory boards, thinking about what sort of item we could place on the board and what sense it would appeal to.
As you can see we had lots of fun and the children not only showed good science knowledge, but also good D&T skills and teamwork.
