This week in English we have continued our study of C.S Lewis’ classic ‘The Lion, the Witch and the Wardrobe’. Focusing on the moment in the story when Edmund had been rescued by Aslan’s people and is reunited with his brother and sisters, the children inferred and deduced what might have been said between Aslan and Edmund during their private conversation. Working with a partner they role played the conversation and then wrote it up as a script.
As a class, we discussed the key points of the story so far and agreed upon six. Working in small groups the children had to re-tell these six moments orally and using actions, each group then performed their work to the rest of the class. We finished our week with the children starting to think about ideas for their own version of the story commencing with the creation of a fantasy setting.
